High Court passed judgment directing the authority to protect and maintain the biggest Archeological side Bhitorgor at Panchagor district. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
High Court Division comprising of Ms. Justice Naima Haider and Mr. Justice Zafar Ahmed passed judgment on 25.04.13 in a public interest litigation filed by the Human Rights and Peace for Bangladesh (HRPB) and directed the government to protect and maintain the biggest Archeological side Bhitorgor at Panchagor district. The court also directed to implement the short and long term recommendations made by a expert committee consisting of six members constituted by the order of the Hon’ble Court. Writ Petitioners are Advocate Manzill Murshid, Asaduzzaman Siddique, Eklas Uddin Bhuiyan,and Mahbubul Islam and the respondents are Secretary of Cultural, Land and Home Ministry, D.G. Archeology Department, D.C and S.P. Panchagor, O.C. Panchagor sadar, Assortplus Ltd., Selina Tea Estate Limited.
